🤖 AI in the Enterprise
- Microsoft, OpenAI and Anthropic committed roughly $8B combined to enterprise AI deployment ventures; Microsoft's new Frontier Company, backed with $2.5B and 6,000 experts, signals the contest has shifted from model capability to deployment (TechCrunch).
- Gartner forecasts 40% of enterprise apps will embed task-specific AI agents by end of 2026, up from under 5% in 2025 — yet more than 40% of agentic AI projects are at risk of cancellation by 2027.
- Hype vs. reality: 79% of organizations report AI adoption challenges despite 59% spending over $1M annually on AI. The gap is organizational readiness — 71% of executives cite it as the barrier, versus just 11% citing the technology itself (Writer).
- Microsoft 365 Copilot added GPT-5.5 Instant and inbox/calendar-aware Copilot Chat; Salesforce and ServiceNow continue leaning into agent-first branding (Agentforce, Now Assist), though public usage data still lags the marketing push.
✅ Implementation Wins & Losses
- LC Waikiki used a Joule-built HR agent to cut HR process cycle times by 40–60%, letting employees handle transactions via natural language.
- Gartner: over 70% of ERP implementations fail to fully meet original goals and roughly 1 in 4 fail catastrophically; discrete-manufacturing ERP projects fail at 73% with average cost overruns of 215%.
- Valantic's 2026 SAP study found ~70% of German-speaking-region companies mid-implementation or already live on S/4HANA, but only 51% report cloud cost efficiency in production — well short of expectations (Valantic).
- McKinsey: only 20% of companies capture more than half the expected value from ERP investments; the top failure drivers are change management and data migration, not the technology itself.
⚠️ Threats & Risks
- A critical remote-code-execution flaw in the Weaver E-cology enterprise OA platform (CVE-2026-22679, CVSS 9.8) has been under active exploitation since March.
- GitHub Enterprise Server disclosed CVE-2026-3854 (CVSS 8.7), allowing RCE via a single malicious
git push. - 2026 software supply-chain attacks increasingly rely on stolen maintainer credentials — phishing and SIM-swapping — rather than zero-days; nearly 90% of incidents trace back to an identity-related attack vector (RedFox Security).
- AI vendor lock-in anxiety is rising: 81% of enterprise leaders worry about AI vendor dependency, and only 6% believe they could switch AI providers without material disruption (VaaS Block).
